THE ATLANTIS

Alantis a unique content that is said to have been destroyed centuries ago is one of the greatest raveling mysteries ever faced by humans especially with scientists discovering a similar continent underneath the seabed.

Atlantis was first mentioned by the Greek philosopher Plato as a utopia that existed long before his time. According to him half horses and half-humans lived on the continent. They had lots of gold, silver and diamonds. They had a large army and were the most technically advanced civilization of the world during its time. With the passing of time, people living in Atlantis became corrupt, greedy and stopped worshipping their gods. Soon the gods became angry and destroyed the city. According to Plato Atlantis existed around 9000 years before his time.

There are no proofs or solid evidence that such a country or a country similar to Atlantis even existed. The only evidence is the writings of Plato. Even then many scientists around the world are in continuous search for the remains of this utopia. Some claim to have found them while others argue that the country still exists and has become very advanced and is hiding from humans.

So is Atlantis a true story?

Here’s what I feel. ‘ There is no smoke without a fire. Maybe the myth of Atlantis is not true but we cannot deny the fact that the myth itself has been inspired by some real events. Maybe a civilization used to exist but not as advanced as Plato describes. Maybe it had gone extinct in some mass extinction event. Or maybe Plato made up a story to convey the ideas of the destruction of human society due to the corruption and greed among its citizens. So it’s always a maybe. Until something unique is discovered about the lost utopia it will be worthless to believe in it.

For an ending note, the myth of Atlantis is a unique one. In recent years it has gained headlines in the newspapers and a special place in the heart of conspiracy scientists and mystery hunters. I hope that someday they will find a unique continent and we will be awestruck at our history
